Our Gravel Patio Makeover: Tearing Down Our Pergola & Future Plans

Posted in: Gravel Patio Makeover, Home Updates

When we first bought this house in 2022 I was SO excited about the pergola on our gravel patio. I’d wanted a pergola for years, to finally have one was a bit of a dream come true (it’s the little things). If you want to see what our pergola looked like in it’s full glory, check HERE.

Unfortunately, after cutting back the pergola’s severely overgrown wisteria plant we realized that the pergola was rotted out and ultimately unsafe to keep up. It was sad to take it down, but necessary, and now we have a fresh start which means lots of brainstorming!

Jackson and I have been tossing around ideas of what we should do with this space in our gravel patio. Here are 3 options we’ve been deliberating:

This is by far Jackson’s favorite option, and I’m leaning in this direction also. Especially with these Folding Adirondack Chairs I found on Amazon!
This space is close to the kitchen in our home, so I love the idea of having a “private dining” corner on the gravel patio. Especially with some bistro lights, I can easily picture summer nights with good food and fun conversation.
This perhaps most closely resembles what the area was like back in 2012; a cozy, quiet place to sit, read a book, and reflect. I imagine doing my quiet mornings here and am tempted to go this direction.

What do you think we should do with this corner of our gravel patio? Let me know in the comments below! Or if you have a different idea that we haven’t considered, share it below!
