13 Interior Designer Approved White Paint Colors for a Cozy Coastal Home

Posted in: Coastal Aesthetic, Home Updates, Kitchen, Paint Colors

A few weeks ago our kitchen had a major leak and we ended up needing to replace the entire ceiling and a large chunk of drywall. We’d been meaning to paint our kitchen, and this became the perfect opportunity to do so. We were leaning towards painting our kitchen white, but we knew we wanted it to still feel cozy (not sterile) and fit the coastal aesthetic we’re leaning into.

I don’t know about you, but I operate best when I have limited options, especially when it comes to choosing a paint color. Luckily for me, one of my sisters is a professional interior designer. All it took was one text and she sent me a whole list of her favorite cozy white paint colors.

Here are her white paint color recommendations for a cozy coastal home…

Benjamin Moore:

  • White Dove
  • Chantilly Lace
  • Swiss Coffee
  • Simply White
  • Floral White

Sherwin Williams

  • Alabaster
  • Snowbound
  • Greek Villa
  • Creamy ⭐️

Farrow & Ball

  • School House White ⭐️
  • Shadow White ⭐️
  • Shaded White
  • Off-White

Her personal favorites of this list are School House White and Shadow White by Farrow & Ball. We opted to go for Creamy by Sherwin Williams and are in love with it. It’s a very warm white, which gives our kitchen the cozy feel we’ve been wanting. It also pairs perfectly with all of the natural wood we have in our kitchen, leaning into the coastal charm of lakeside living.

My sister also recommended color drenching our kitchen, and I’m so glad we opted to do this! Our walls, trim, and ceiling are all in Creamy by Benjamin Moore. The walls are eggshell, the trim is satin, and the ceiling is matte. These different finishes help create depth and contrast while the shade of color stays consistent throughout the room.

One of our favorite parts of this paint color is the difference it’s made with our kitchen cabinets. Our cabinets are old Ikea ones, and the white finish on them has faded to a very yellow-ish tone. Against the old blue paint they were pulling green and not looking their best, whereas with Creamy on the walls they look much more fresh and in-line with the rest of the kitchen. We are very happy with this decision!
